Stonegate hearkens back to a period before men spent their days whining about trivial matters on Tik-Tok and instead chose to occupy their time roaming the countryside as knights in shining armor or sailing the high seas as heroic Swashbucklers. It was a time when a man competing against a woman to prove he was faster or could jump higher was considered shameful. A time when honor and accolades were within the grasp of any brave young man willing to save a damsel in distress from a fire-breathing dragon or dastardly rum-soaked pirate. Which brings us to this important WARNING: Using Stonegate will put hair on your chest and instill a sudden desire to fix stuff for your wife or girlfriend.
Can a font really do all that? Maybe not. But lettering connoisseurs will appreciate the unusual "chisel hewn" forms that the Base letters create —making it unlike anything else available. Try placing the "Inset" font on top of the "Base" letters to achieve a dimensional inset effect. Complete the effect by placing the "Shadow" font behind the "Base" letters.
Stonegate's uses are not merely limited to medieval or pirate-themed designs. The subtle scrolls and flourishes are actually inspired by early 1900's lettering, similar to that found in the Ames Compendium, thereby giving it a rugged, Americana feel.
