Why aren't the fonts showing up in my application?

• Restart the computer.
After installing the fonts using the installer, some computers require you to restart before the fonts will show up in your applications.

• The application doesn't support Postscript OpenType fonts.
All Letterhead Fonts are Postscript-Flavored OpenType fonts. This means that they will only work in programs that support Open Type. Letterhead Fonts are known to work in most Microsoft applications, SignLab 7.1+, FlexiSign 7+, CorelDraw 9+, Illustrator 9+, Photoshop 5.5+, InDesign 1.0+, Quark 4+, Vinyl Express LXi 7.5, Freehand 10+, PaintShop Pro 8.1+ and Gerber Omega 2.51+. (Note that earlier versions of Omega and Graphix Advantage cannot use Postscript OpenType fonts). If your application was not listed here, it doesn't necessarily mean that it doesn't support Postscript OpenType. It just means we aren't aware of it yet. We suggest downloading the free trial version of our LHF Quadrex font before ordering.

• They are installed but you may not be looking for the right name.
All Letterhead Fonts begin with the preface "LHF". This means that you will find our font "Splash" is actually named "LHF Splash", so you would find it listed in the "L's" in alphabetical order.

• The application was open when installing.
Close any programs that use fonts before installing. If the situation continues, restart the computer. If the problem persists, try reinstalling the fonts.

• The fonts have not been installed correctly.
You must run the installer or open the archive file that you downloaded in order to install the fonts. Placing the installer or archive directly into the font folder won't work. Some applications (such as Omega) may also require you to convert the fonts before use.

How do I change PC or Mac?
It is quite simple. First login. You will be automatically directed to the "Account Manager" page. Scroll down to the "System" section. Choose the small blue "edit" button. From there you can choose Mac, PC, or both.

Why aren't my fonts appearing in CorelDraw 12?
CorelDraw 12 requires that you manually turn on an option to view Postscript OpenType fonts. In the program, go to Options > Workspace > Text > Fonts. Place a checkmark next to "Show Type 1 fonts". Restart CorelDraw.
What am I allowed to do with Letterhead Fonts?
Letterhead Fonts may be used for commercial purposes. In fact, we hope you make a lot of money using our fonts. But there are some restrictions. Please see this page for what you can and cannot do with Letterhead Fonts.
I need to redownload my fonts
No problem. If your order was placed after January 2007, simply login to your account and redownload them. If your order was placed prior to January 2007 you will need to create an account by making a new purchase so we can add your previous fonts to your account. Please contact us when you have done this.
Fonts appear jagged/missing outline (Illustrator 10 on Mac)
The font preferences are most likely corrupt. This seems to especially affect Illustrator 10 and OpenType fonts. You may receive a warning that the font cannot be stroked or converted to paths and the font name does not have the appropriate spaces. The best solution is to upgrade to a newer version of Illustrator. If that is not an option, delete the fonts from the font folder manually (do not use FontBook) and then clear the font preferences by booting into safe mode (hold Shift key while starting up). Shut the system down completely and start again (not just restart). Reinstall the fonts manually by dragging them to the Library folder (do not use FontBook). The fonts should perform correctly in Illustrator now.
What format are Letterhead Fonts available in?
All Letterhead Fonts are Postscript OpenType only. This is the highest quality format available and ensures that the letters you receive are exactly the way the original artist drew them. Unlike TrueType fonts, there are no shifting of points and changing of paths. OpenType also allows us to pack in lots of alternates and automatic substitutions. The same font can be used on both PC and Macs. We do not offer any other formats.
How is my account encrypted into the font files?
In order to reduce cases of piracy, account information is both visibly and invisibly encrypted into the fonts you download using our FontGuard system. This information cannot be removed or decrypted except by Letterhead Fonts. This enables the fonts to be traced back to the original purchaser should they become shared publicly.
What is Easy Font Installer?
Our Easy Font Installer for PC users makes it, well... easy, to begin using your new fonts. After purchasing, simply run Easy Font Installer to install the fonts. That's all there is to it! See this page for more info concerning Easy Font Installer.
What programs are compatible with Letterhead Fonts?
Letterhead Fonts can be used in any application that supports Postscript OpenType fonts. Known applications include: Most Microsoft applications, SignLab 7.1+, FlexiSign 7+, CorelDraw 9+, Illustrator 9+, Photoshop 5.5+, InDesign 1.0+, Quark 4+, Freehand 10+, PaintShop Pro 8.1+, Vinyl Express LXi 7.5, and Gerber Omega 2.51+. If you are in doubt as to whether or not your programs can use OpenType, we suggest downloading the free trial version of our LHF Quadrex font before ordering.
What systems are compatible with Letterhead Fonts?
All Letterhead Fonts are Postscript OpenType which means they are compatible with Windows 2000, XP, Vista and Mac OS 10 or higher. Older systems can use Postscript OpenType with the use of third-party programs, but we do not recommend or support these older systems.
Why am I getting "Credit card payment failed" error?
Sometimes you may receive this error even if you have successfully used your credit card elsewhere recently. To help protect you against fraud, the system Letterhead Fonts uses is very strict. All information must match exactly to what the your bank or issuer has in their records. Most often the error is caused by a discrepency in the address. For example, try variations of the word "Suite". Use the word "North" instead of "N" or visa versa. Perhaps the issuer or bank has a different zip code on file or they have not updated the expiration date correctly. If you continue to receive this error, please contact us. We may be able to help you pinpoint what is causing the error.

Can I use Letterhead Fonts for commercial purposes?
Yes. You are encouraged to use the Letterhead Fonts in most commercial design projects, including publishing, advertising, signs, apparel, etc. You may not, however, resell Letterhead Fonts, use the fonts in clipart, create stencils for resale, publish the individual letters (separate from any design) in a book or use them in any manner that would allow others to use or manipulate the letters. Please see the Letterhead Fonts User License Agreement for more details.
Can I send my Letterhead Fonts to my printer?
No. Sharing your Letterhead Fonts with any third-party constitutes piracy and carries with it serious consequences-- including 5 years in federal prison and a minimum fine of $250,000. Your account information is embedded in each of your Letterhead Fonts. Should your printer or someone working there distribute the fonts elsewhere, you will be held responsible for damages resulting from each case of piracy. Instead, protect yourself by converting your text to vector outlines before sending your file to the printer. Please see this page for more information.
Can I share my Letterhead Fonts with friends?
No. Sharing your Letterhead Fonts with any third-party constitutes piracy and carries with it serious consequences-- including 5 years in federal prison and a minimum fine of $250,000. All Letterhead Fonts are original creations (not copies of other fonts). It is very discouraging to spend several months creating an original font and then see it being shared freely in a few weeks. When you share your fonts, you are stealing from the artist. Please continue to support these artists and encourage them to make new fonts for you by not sharing Letterhead Fonts with others. Please see this page for more information.
Why don't you offer True Type fonts anymore?
The old True Type format was an awful format for fonts. The letters never looked the way we originally drew them because the True Type format moved the points (nodes) in the final result. In contrast, Postscript OpenType letters look exactly the way the original artist drew them. There is no point shifting. This makes for much higher quality font files. With OpenType quickly becoming the industry standard and True Type becoming extinct, we hope you will consider upgrading your software soon.
Why isn't LHF Quadrex aligning properly in FlexiSign?
By default FlexiSign changes the height of all fonts, using the uppercase X as it's guide. Since the LHF Quadrex fonts (other than the "base") do not contain a full uppercase X, the individual fonts will not align properly. Go to Edit > Preferences and click the Tools tab. Scroll down on the left side and click on Text Tool. On the right side check "Use Font Height". The LHF Quadrex fonts should align properly now. This also pertains to other multi-part fonts.

While you're here, you might also want to ensure that "Smooth Edges of Screen Fonts" is unchecked. We've received reports from some users that this causes a discrepancy (with all fonts) between what they see on the screen and what is actually printed or cut.

SignLab does not automatically detect new fonts when they are installed, therefore you must manually add any new fonts you install. After running the Letterhead Fonts installer, follow these steps:

1) Open SignLab and go to File > Install > Fonts.

2) At the top you'll see a text box named "Look in:" with a Browse button to the right of it.
Type: C:\WINDOWS\Fonts in the box or click the Browse button and go to the Windows Fonts folder.

3) Click the "Search Now" button

4) Click the "Install All" button
How do I install the fonts in Omega 2.51?
After installing your Letterhead Fonts, go to: Start > Programs > GSP > TT Converter. Select the new fonts on the left side, then press the Convert button. (It is not recommended to convert more than 2 at a time.) Note that for the Quadrex font (and some other multi-part fonts) you will need to use the asterisk key as the default character for each of the Quadrex fonts or the fonts will not align properly. If you have questions or difficulty with this, contact us and we will send you pre-converted Quadrex fonts instead.
Why am I receiving "Access Denied" message when ordering?
Your credit card information has been rejected. Usually this is due to some bit of information, such as the security code not matching. To protect you against fraud, the shopping cart is designed to block further attempts. Please review your credit card information and contact us so that we may assist you.
I remember seeing this font on your site. Why can't I find it?
Occasionally, we may remove a particular font from the website for one reason or another. Fonts that are not presently on the site for sale are not available. We cannot fulfill requests for these fonts.
Can you identify this font?
In order to spend more time making fonts and for legal reasons, we cannot identify fonts for you. But there are some good resources for doing that, such as: What The Font. For legal reasons, emails containing images and requesting identification are deleted immediately and are not read or examined. Sorry, but we cannot respond to these emails.
Do you take on custom projects?
We don't do custom fonts if that's what you mean. A few of the guys do take on design projects though and you are welcome to contact them through their websites:
Mike Erickson (Logomotive)
Tom Kennedy (Letterhead Logos)
How do you create a font? Can you help me?
All Letterhead Fonts are actually created by tiny aliens living on planet Zargon. When we receive them (beamed down from the mother ship) each month, we just slap a random name on them ("John Studden" is a popular choice). Therefore we really don't know how they are created. It is rumored they are made from human brains-- but we have no proof of that.
