Before you order

What type of fonts are these?
All Letterhead Fonts are Postscript OpenType. This is the highest quality format available. This means that the letters you see on your screen are exactly the way the original artist drew them. Older formats, such as TrueType, are undesirable because they alter the original letters by adding several unnecessary points to the paths and change the lines.

The Postscript OpenType format also allows us to pack in a virtually unlimited number of alternates and extra goodies into each font. And that's not all. Postscript OpenType fonts are cross platform too, meaning the same font can be used on both PC and Mac systems. While Postscript OpenType fonts are compatible with most programs, there are some programs (mostly very old programs) that cannot use Postscript OpenType fonts. For this reason it is necessary to ensure that your programs can use Postscript OpenType before ordering.

The font I want isn't on the custom package page.
Not all fonts qualify for a discounted price, therefore you may not see some fonts listed with the others on the custom package page. Usually, these are fonts that are new or more expensive. Check back often because the list can change.

Can I use these fonts on my Mac or PC?
Yes and Yes! The great things about Postscript OpenType fonts are that they are cross compatible. This means that the same high-quality font can be used on both the PC and Mac system. Of course, Letterhead Fonts never charges extra if you need to use the fonts on both systems.

What programs can use Postscript OpenType fonts?
All Letterhead Fonts are Postscript OpenType fonts. This means that they will only work in programs that support Postscript OpenType fonts. Today, that isn't much of an issue. But if you have an older program that is not listed here, you will want to make sure that you can use Postscript OpenType fonts before purchasing. Please see our Compatible Programs Chart before you order, if you have any concern as to whether or not you can use Postscript OpenType fonts.

Can I try the fonts before I buy?
Yes, we have a handy TypeTester which allows you to type your own message using the fonts. When you're ready to purchase, just click on the "Download" button at the bottom.

What if I decide I don't like a font?
Because of the nature of selling digital files, we cannot offer refunds. However, if there is ever a problem with a font you've purchased from us, we'll make it right. We routinely issue revisions and bug fixes to the fonts free of charge. You will be notified of these revisions and you may then download them from your account at any time. In the unlikely event that the issue is something that would take us very long to fix and you are on a deadline, we will issue a refund or replacement. We cannot issue a refund if the case is one of incompatibility with a particular system or program. For this reason, it is important to make sure that the program you intend to use the fonts in is compatible with Postscript OpenType fonts.

What operating systems are supported?
Postscript OpenType fonts are guaranteed to work on Windows XP, Windows Vista and Mac OSX and newer. Postscript OpenType fonts may be used on other systems, such as Unix or Windows 2000, or through the use of third-party utilities, but Letterhead Fonts cannot offer support for these systems.

Can I use the fonts for commercial purposes?
Yes! In fact, we hope you make a lot of money using the fonts. There are some restrictions, such as not using them in clipart or stencils that you should probably read here. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or need clarification.

Where I can read your license agreement?
The entire End User License Agreement (EULA) that you must agree to when purchasing can be read here. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or need clarification.

When do I receive the fonts?
Verified accounts may download fonts immediately with no waiting. If you have not placed an order with us before, your account must be manually verified before you may download the fonts. During our regular working hours of Monday-Friday, 8am-6pm PST, all accounts are verified within 20 minutes. Please ensure that you provide accurate information when creating your account. Erroneous information may result in delays. Once your account has been verified, you will receive an email instructing you to login to your account and download the fonts. Future purchases will not encounter any delay.

Do you offer any quantity discounts?
Yes. Check out our popular 4 for $199 package where you choose any 4 fonts for only $49.75 each (even fonts that are regularly $62!) Additional fonts after 4 are also discounted, so the more you buy, the more you save. A few fonts don't qualify though-- usually new releases or premium fonts like Billhead.

What is FontGuard?
Creating a single high-quality, original font requires months, even years of dedicated work. For this reason, Letterhead Fonts developed the FontGuard system to help prevent piracy. All fonts are embedded with the purchaser's name, account ID and email. Should the fonts become shared, the purchaser will be held responsible for damages resulting from lost sales, removal, etc. This does not affect how the fonts may be used or installed. For more information about FontGuard, see this page.

How many computers can I install the fonts on?
When you purchase a single license you are entitled to install the fonts on up to 2 computers (including laptops) as long as those computers are owned by you or your company. If you need to install them on more than 2 computers, please contact us for license discounts.

Can you send my fonts on CD?
Fonts are only available as downloads from the website. We trust you understand that creating CD's is far too time consuming since each one must be made custom. Besides, the file sizes of the fonts are very small, so it is much more practical and faster to simply download them.
